Open Access, Copyright and License

Open access

INCOME provides open access to published articles so that readers can read and download the full text without a subscription or reader payment. Reuse is governed by the license stated on each article. Reader access and author publication charges are separate matters; consult the Author Fee page for charges applicable to authors.

Copyright

Authors retain copyright in their articles. By submitting the final version for publication, authors authorize the journal to publish and identify the work as an INCOME article under the stated license. Authors are responsible for ensuring that they hold the necessary rights and permissions for included material.

Creative Commons license

Articles displaying the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license (CC BY-SA 4.0) may be copied, shared, and adapted, including for commercial purposes, subject to its terms.

  • Attribution: give appropriate credit, link to the license, and indicate changes without implying endorsement.
  • ShareAlike: distribute adaptations under CC BY-SA 4.0 or a license recognized as compatible under its terms.
  • No additional restrictions: do not impose legal or technical barriers that prevent uses the license permits.

The license on the individual article governs its reuse. It does not automatically cover third-party material excluded by a credit line, journal branding, or rights outside its scope. Other permissions may still be needed, including permissions relating to privacy or identifiable persons.

Sharing and repositories

Authors may share the published version in personal, institutional, or subject repositories under the applicable article license. Include complete publication details, the DOI where available, and the license notice. Make the version clear and link to any subsequent correction or retraction notice.

This policy does not retroactively replace a different license attached to an earlier article. License and copyright statements should be consistent on the article landing page and the full-text file.
