The Effect of Al-Arabiyyah Bayna Yadaik on Students Maharah Lughawiyah at Diniyah Limo Jurai Agam

Abstract

Arabic language learning in Islamic boarding schools requires instructional materials that are capable of developing students' language skills comprehensively. One of the textbooks widely used is Al-'Arabiyyah Bayna Yadaik, which is designed to improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through a communicative approach. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using Al-'Arabiyyah Bayna Yadaik in improving the maharah lughawiyah of eighth-grade students at Diniyah Limo Jurai Islamic Boarding School, Agam. This research employed a quantitative approach using an ex post facto research design. The population and sample consisted of 53 students selected through a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The findings reveal that the use of Al-'Arabiyyah Bayna Yadaik obtained a percentage score of 78.11%, which falls into the effective category, while the students' maharah lughawiyah achieved a percentage score of 78.89%, also categorized as effective. The simple linear regression analysis produced the equation Y = 18.649 + 3.085X, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.852, indicating that the use of the textbook contributed 85.2% to the improvement of students' maharah lughawiyah. Furthermore, the t-test showed that the calculated t value (17.144) was higher than the critical t value (2.008), with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Al-'Arabiyyah Bayna Yadaik is effective and has a significant positive effect on improving the maharah lughawiyah of eighth-grade students at Diniyah Limo Jurai Islamic Boarding School, Agam.
