Fires caused by LPG gas leaks remain a serious threat to public safety, especially in densely populated residential areas. Tambak Rejo Village faces a similar challenge, with the majority of residents using LPG for daily cooking without an adequate early warning system. This community service project aims to implement a prototype IoT-based monitoring system to detect gas leaks and ambient temperature as a fire risk mitigation measure. The method used is a participatory approach involving the community through outreach, prototype installation training, and operational assistance. The system utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller, an MQ-2 gas sensor, and a DHT22 temperature-humidity sensor connected to a web-based monitoring platform that can be accessed in real-time. The results of the project showed that the system successfully detected gas concentrations above 300 ppm and temperature increases above 35°C with an average response time of less than 2 seconds. The assisted community responded positively, with 85% of participants stating they felt safer and more alert after using the system. This project demonstrates that IoT-based technology can be an effective and affordable solution for increasing fire safety awareness and preparedness at the household level.
