Focus and Scope

Jumat Ekonomi: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat publishes scholarly accounts of community service and community empowerment in economics and management. The journal connects academic knowledge with practical action to address needs identified with community partners and strengthen their capacity to manage economic activities independently.

Objectives

The journal disseminates community engagement practices, supports the application of knowledge and appropriate technology, and encourages critical reflection on the effectiveness and sustainability of economic empowerment programmes. Articles should explain the partner's initial situation, the intervention undertaken, the evidence of its results, and lessons relevant to other communities.

Scope

  • Entrepreneurship and small business development: business planning, business models, enterprise mentoring, and the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises.
  • Financial literacy and management: household budgeting, savings, bookkeeping, costing, pricing, access to finance, and responsible use of financial services.
  • Marketing and business digitalization: branding, packaging, e-commerce, social media marketing, digital payments, and responsible use of digital tools.
  • Local and creative economies: community products, value-added processing, creative enterprises, village economic potential, and community-based tourism with a clear economic contribution.
  • Community economic institutions: cooperatives, village-owned enterprises, community business groups, organizational governance, and managerial capacity building.
  • Islamic economic empowerment: Islamic financial literacy, halal business development, Islamic entrepreneurship, and community applications of Islamic economic principles.
  • Inclusive and sustainable livelihoods: economic participation of women, youth, vulnerable groups, and local communities, including environmentally responsible business practices.

Contribution and readership

The journal serves lecturers, community service practitioners, students, community organizations, development partners, and policymakers. Articles must demonstrate a clear relationship between a community need, the chosen intervention, and the reported results. Cross-disciplinary activities are considered when their economic empowerment contribution is explicit.

Evidence may include demonstrated skills, changes in knowledge or practices, the adoption of tools, improvements in business processes, or documented economic outcomes. Claims of increased income, sales, productivity, or long-term empowerment must be supported by measurements appropriate to those claims.
