This study discusses the implementation of the ta’awwun (mutual assistance) principle in qardh practice as a Sharia economic solution based on maslahah (public interest). The ta’awwun principle emphasizes solidarity and social concern as the foundation for community welfare. Through the qardh hasan contract, this concept is realized as an interest-free loan aimed at helping those in need for productive and emergency purposes. This research employs a qualitative method with normative and descriptive approaches by analyzing the Qur’an, Hadith, and relevant fiqh and Islamic economic literature. The findings reveal that applying ta’awwun through qardh plays a vital role in strengthening the community’s economic resilience, reducing social inequality, and promoting a just and sustainable financial system. This practice not only provides economic benefits but also embodies spiritual and moral values aligned with the objectives of Islamic law (maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah) to achieve public welfare (maslahah ‘ammah). Hence, implementing qardh hasan in Islamic financial institutions such as BMTs and Islamic Micro Waqf Banks serves as a tangible step toward building an inclusive and socially just Islamic economy.
