This research aims to determine students' reading skills at SDN 04 Lawang Mandahiling through the calistung approach. The method used is classroom action research involving selected class students as research subjects. Data was collected through reading tests and observations during several research cycles. The research results showed that the application of the calistung approach succeeded in improving students' reading skills significantly. These findings provide important recommendations for teachers and schools in efforts to improve students' reading skills at the elementary school level.

ABSTRAK
Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterampilan membaca siswa di SDN 04 Lawang Mandahiling melalui pendekatan calistung. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian Kuantitatif dengan melibatkan siswa kelas yang dipilih sebagai subjek penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes membaca dan observasi selama beberapa siklus penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan calistung berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan membaca siswa secara signifikan. Temuan ini memberikan rekomendasi penting untuk guru dan sekolah dalam upaya meningkatkan keterampilan membaca siswa di tingkat SD.
